Fall League Information
Overview

BABA is hosting a 10-game Open league at Big League Dreams, Bobby Beach, Texas Ave. Park, and at the League City Sportsplex. Teams get 10 guaranteed games. At the end of the season, the top three teams in each division play in a single elimination tournament.

There are two options: Sunday-only (no Big League Dreams) and Wednesday/Friday/Sunday (mostly Wednesday and Sunday) with Big League Dreams.

Most teams get one or two games per week. Doubleheaders are sprinkled in.

Divisions

The following teams are entered:

Depending on the number of entries, some divisions may be combined (at the same mound/base distance).

At least four teams must register in a division for it to make as a separate division unless the managers of those divisions agree to play with less than four.

Format

BABA leagues are Nations Baseball-sanctioned leagues. Fall league is an Open league, with all classes in the same age division playing together. If a division fills with more than one class and there are enough teams to form another division, that division will be split into separate classes (for example, six 10 Select teams and eight 10 Elite teams forming two divisions).

9U and above are live arm, open base. 8U and below are coach pitch, closed base. There are no bat restrictions. See the Nations Baseball rules (on the right) for more information.

Season-Ending Tournament

The top three teams in each division play in a single-elimination tournament at the end of the season that determines final placement in the league standings for those three teams.

The other teams in the league are placed according to their record in the league using the tie breakers in the BABA League Rules.

Scheduling and No-Plays

Teams are allowed to choose up to four no-play dates to allow for tournament play or other activities. Other than the no-plays, it is a set schedule.

Important!

No-play dates can impact the number of games scheduled at Big League Dreams.

The Sunday-only schedule is available for teams that need that schedule due to other commitments. Please note that there are no Big League Dreams games on Sundays. Teams with football commitments wanting to play at Big League Dreams should register for the Wed/Fri/Sun schedule.

From experience with several types of schedules, we have learned that coaches prefer a set schedule with no changes. In our Spring league, we had zero (0) schedule changes (other than rainouts) during the season.

Schedule Change Policy

As stated above, in our last league we had no schedule changes during the season. However, we do allow teams to request a schedule change if they have an unavoidable conflict arise midseason.

To receive a schedule change, the following conditions must be met:

  • the team requesting the change must pay a $100 schedule change fee
  • the manager of the team requesting the change must speak to the manager(s) of the other team(s) affected by the schedule change immediately upon requesting the change
  • the change must be requested at least 24 hours in advance
  • a field must be available for the reschedule date

Of course, this policy does not apply to rainouts.

Awards
Awards
Team and individual trophies are presented to the first- and second-place teams after the single-elimination tournament.
Score Reporting

You report your scores on the interactive BABA Schedule. You use the login (your email address) and password you choose when you registered. You state whether you were home or away and type the score from your book. If both teams have the same score, that score becomes official. If the scores differ, and no scorecard is available, the score from the home team is official. See the Schedule Help button on the schedule page for more information.

All game scores are reported on the Nations Baseball website to add to your team's strength rating, provided your team manager submits the scores on the website.

Scorecards are checked periodically. Teams found to inflate their scores or reduce their runs allowed are penalized.
