BABA Pumpkin Blaster II & Other Fall Tournaments

The BABA Pumpkin Blaster II for 9U, 11U, 12U, and 13U teams is happening on October 17 – 19 and is just what your team needs to get their fall off to a great start!

This is an Open tournament, and teams of all classifications are welcome to participate. The tournament is being held at Texas Ave Park in Webster for the 9Us, Bobby Beach for the 11Us and 12Us, and Renwick Park in Friendswood for the 13Us.

For Select (AA) teams, we are offering the BABA Bark at the Moon tournament at Lake Jackson Fields on Halloween weekend. This tournament is for 8U, 9U, and 10U teams.

If you're looking for something in November, then look for the BABA Turkey Shootout II on November 21 – 23 for 9U, 10U, 12U, and 13U teams. This is another Open tournament for all classes. The 9Us will play at Texas Ave Park, the 10Us and 12Us will play at Bobby Beach, and the 13Us will play at the League City Sportsplex.

Get more information, register, and pay for any of these tournaments on the Tournament Schedule page of www.bayareaball.org.

Fall Zone and Fall State Tournaments
Jeph Fielding

It's that time of year: time for the Fall Zone and State tournaments. All registered teams can play in a Zone tournament. All Zone tournaments will be 11/7 - 11/9 at various locations in Houston. Click the links to view the tournament details.

To play in the State tournament, teams only have to play in one qualifying tournament. This tournament will take place in Pflugerville, Texas (North Austin) on November 14 through 16.

Your roster will not be frozen in these tournaments—even if you win—if you do not choose for it to be!

Starting a Nations Baseball Team: Part I
BABA Team

This series will detail the steps required to start a new team with Nations Baseball.

If you'd like to read the whole article, see the Start a New Team page on www.bayareaball.org.

  1. Register on Nations Baseball.
Click the Join Now link on www.nations-baseball.com.

  2. Choose a team name.
Search for team names in the Nations Baseball website. Choose one that is not taken in your age division. Remember to re-register your team early each year. Current teams have the option of renewing their team names for a period of a few months before the new baseball season each year in August, but after that deadline other teams can pick up those names. Team names cannot be duplicated in the same age division, even in different classes, so register early to get your preferred team name.

  3. Create a team.

    1. Login with the email address and password that you used to register.
    2. Click on Teams > Add New Team.
    3. Complete the form.
    4. Follow the prompts to complete your registration.
Registration is $140 and includes your insurance until July 31, 2009. (This combination of registration fees and insurance fees makes Nations Baseball less expensive than other sanctions.

Note: In 2009, you have two options for registration. Nations Baseball registration includes insurance. However, Nations Baseball recognizes that many teams have previous insurance that does not expire until December 2008. For that reason, Nations Baseball has created two registration options for the 2009 season only.

Teams with insurance
If your team already has accident and liability insurance through another organization, you can elect to register for $90. This fee includes your registration fee and insurance coverage for January 1 - July 31. When you re-register for the 2010 season, you pay the regular fee, and your insurance covers you from August 1 - July 31.

Teams without insurance
If your team does not have accident and liability insurance, you must choose the regular registration option for $140, which includes annual accident and liability insurance coverage from August 1 - July 31 (the same as the baseball season).

You must re-register your team every August. You use the same user ID and password each year so that you can view all the teams that you have managed from the same screen.

In the next issue
The next issue will cover how to determine the correct age for your team and how the class system operates. You can also find this information and more on the Start a New Team page on the BABA website.
